People think about doing a detox for a variety of reasons…to jumpstart weight loss, to reduce inflammation in their body, to improve the appearance of their skin, to stop feeling tired all the time, to prepare for pregnancy, and so on.
But how do you know if you really NEED to detox? Your body actually gives you 4 main signs that you need to detox.

4 Signs You Need to Detox
1. You’ve Never Done a Detox Before
If you’ve never done a detox before…it’s probably time to do one.
You come into contact with hundreds of different chemicals every day. While your body has a system to naturally detoxify itself, it is not equipped to deal with the massive amounts of toxins we face in our modern life.
Therefore, if you have never done a detox before, you probably have hundreds of chemicals stored in your body that may be impacting your energy levels, your ability to lose weight, the appearance of your skin, your fertility, your mood, and your risk for more serious diseases later in life.
A short-term detox will help your body remove stored toxins and can dramatically improve how you feel.
2. You Just Don’t Feel Good
It may be hard to put into words, but do you ever just not feel your best? Maybe you don’t feel quite like yourself or like how you used to feel?
Maybe you can relate to…
- Feeling tired and sluggish
- Experiencing brain fog
- Feeling stiff when you wake up in the morning
- Having acne-prone skin
- Feeling irritable
- Suffering from frequent headaches

So how do you know if your liver needs extra support? Here are a few signs:
- You wake up consistently between 1:00 am and 3:00 am when your liver is actively trying to detox.
- You have eye problems like…lots of mucus, itching, dry eyes, macular degeneration, or conjunctivitis.
- You suffer from skin problems like eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, rashes, and dry skin.
- You feel emotions like anger and irritability fairly often.
- You have signs of hormonal imbalances (PMS, hot flashes, and pre-menopausal symptoms) which tend to increase when your liver is congested.
- You frequently struggle with constipation.
4. You Struggle to Lose Weight
If you eat a fairly healthy diet but struggle to lose weight, then toxicity may be getting in the way of letting go of excess weight.
By eliminating toxins and reducing inflammation, your body can more easily release weight naturally.
How to Do A Detox
If you can relate to a few of these signs listed above, then chances are good that you will feel better after doing a detox.
Please know, though, that a detox needs to be done in a healthy and gentle way in order to support your body and your liver without causing any additional stress to it.
